How to check range partition data size and make transportable range partition

Former Member

Hi expert,

I got a error from earlywatch, it shows a infocube range partitions validity has been exceeded. I know how to do repartition, but before that I want to do some investigation, but I can't get answer from forum.

         (1) How to check data size for different range partitions ? I know how to check all tables size for infocube by DB02.

         (2) I know we can use repartition function, but this is local function. I want to know if there is a way to make repartition transportable?

Many Thanks,

Andy

Hi Zhang,

It seems your partition time limit exceeded in the Infocube at the database level. Suppose if you had partitioned with validity of 2012. So after 2012, all your new data doesn't know where to get stored at database level. So we should always beware of our validity period.

Run RSMSSPARTMON program in Se38 by entering your  E fact table of Cube.

Try with this wonderful document on Cube sizes. Try to approach to get range size as per your requirement. http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-11416

Re-partitioning is done at database level. It has got nothing to do at GUI level. You need not to transport this process. You should do directly in Prod system. That's the idea of introducing this concept in BI 7.0.
