Upgrade roadmap ECC 5 to ECC 6

Former Member

Good day

I've taken a look around and cant seem to find what I'm looking for. So, if anyone has gone this road or similar before, I'd appreciate your comments.

We have an ECC 5 system on MaxDB 7.6, Windows Server 2003 (64-bit). We need to get to ECC 6 and on Windows Server 2012. The PAM specifies that the supported platform is MaxDB 7.9 on Windows 2012. So my quandry is how to plan the path to that platform. From what I can tell I can upgrade to MaxDB 7.8 on the existing Server 2003 OS. From there I will copy to the new server platform and do the further upgrade to 2009. Hoever, it appears that ECC 5 will not be OK with that MaxDB level and ECC 6 will not be happy with MaxDB 7.8. I'm not sure how to arrive at my destination here.

Thanks and regards

Ray

Hello,

Since ECC 6.0 is supported on MAXDB 7.6 and Window server 2003, so, you can simply upgrade your ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 on existing hardware and after upgrade, perform system copy to Window 2012/MAXDB 7.9.

Thanks,

Hello Sunny

I dont know about that. Looking at the PAM, all I see as far as database platform is concerned is MaxDB 7.9 64-bit.
