Hi Chandra Sekhar,

Emissions Management is designed to support all scenarios and processes relevant to emissions in large industrial corporations. This comprises the provision of functionality required on operational level (for single plants or facilities) as well as for corporate demands,

e.g.  environmental reporting, KPI- monitoring etc.

You can use Emissions Management for the integration of people and processes across different business units on high quality level thereby, contributing significantly to risk mitigation.

The Emissions Management core functions have been developed to maintain compliance with legal permits and regulations which impose serious operational boundaries - and even financial threats - for industrial and non-industrial operation sites. Moreover, the solution supports emission

trading schemes required to be in line with existing and upcoming national and international directives for the global reduction of Green House Gases (GHG).

Emissions Management provides a complete tool portfolio. The functionality of Emissions Management is structured in three core units:

1) Facilities and process modeling

2) Emissions measuring, monitoring, and control

3) Compliance tracking and task management

1) Facilities and process modeling

Name, type, and size of the process and the emission sources, often with numbering required by the authority. This is necessary to structure the plant in multiple hierarchies.

Substances, raw materials, materials, and energy that will be used or produced in the named facility or process

Emission sources and emission categories

Description of the emissions, the amounts, and the effects on the environment

2) Emissions measuring, monitoring, and control

This comprises the direct or indirect estimation of emissions, the measures that are triggered on the basis of the results, and the reference values and permits that have been determined.

3) Compliance tracking and task management

This is the central process in Emissions Management defining, monitoring and controlling all measures to ensure compliance with rules and guidelines as defined in the operation permit.  This process integrates and coordinates various functions inside and outside the enterprise organization.

Business Scenario Processes

1. Permit Administration

Representation and maintenance of permit key data in the system (identification, categories, limits, tasks and reporting requirements)

2. Scenario Definition

Definition of all emission source, facility or process scenarios including parametric definitions. Scenarios for actual and forecast emissions.

3. Task Assignment

Definition and assignment of tasks and workflow processes for compliance tracking in accordance with role system.

4. Emissions Estimation

(Manual) entry of data records (amount, time) from various data sources and providers.

5. Compliance Tracking

Continuous check of (proper) task execution and proof of (emissions) data plausibility and  compliance with permit requirements

Hi !

Information regarding Environmental Compliance (formerly xEmission Management) is requested very rarely.

You refer the information in Service market place. Enough detailed information are there. Apart from that, here is a short overview of what can be done with EC.

SAP Environmental Compliance supports the full range of business processes needed for compliance, as follows:

Modeling of complex enterprise scenarios

  • This includes the modeling of all facilities and its activities that cause emissions.

Defining emission scenarios based on material characteristics, facility parameters, specified  equations, and/or measurement data

Managing material properties and complex equations for calculation of various emission types

Monitoring, tracking, and analyzing the state of compliance with defined requirements

Data monitoring

  • You can set limit checks and automate detection of exceptions and deviations to reduce errors.

Identifying trends and critical deviations – such as an upcoming shortage of emission allowances – at an early stage

Defining and applying different forecast and planning scenarios to assess the effects of  operational modifications

Regulatory reporting

  • You can use standard regulatory templates and forms and form-based electronic reporting to stay current with regulatory agencies.

Task and workflow management

  • You can handle processes, data submissions, and scheduled activities using a sophisticated task and workflow management engine – complete with personalized task lists and notifications.

Event and exceptions tracking

  • You can coordinate a timely, effective response to an incident using flexible exception management software for mapping and delivering defined prevention plans.
