ECC Variant Conf Replication to CRM

Dear Gurus,

In ECC 6.0 Variant Configuration is created. Now As a CRM consultant they are asking me to Download that Variant Configuration to CRM 7.0 ehp1.

I request the team to help me out what are the step by step process need to be done so that I can create the OPPT, QUOTATION & SO transactions using Variant Configuration Product. I have reffered the entire process of VC in ECC.

My requirements are:

1) What are the prerequists to download the VC?

2) What is the object name for the VC to download?

3) Any enhancements need to be done in CRM for this VC to replicate?

This is very high priority to me.

Regards,

Adherent.

Hi,

What Kumar said is correct, you have to create a Run-time version of Knowledge base in ECC.

You can easily test if you have created Knowledge Bases in ECC. Just go to R3AS in CRM and choose SCE. Then go to monitor the load and you should see how many blocks have been processed. If you have 0 that means that you have no KB's created in ECC and none were downloaded.

Usually an SD person should create the Knowledge Bases for you.

You have to go to SAP Easy Access -> Logistics -> Central Functions -> Variant Configuration -> Knowledge-Base Object -> Create

Then  SAP Easy Access -> Logistics -> Central Functions -> Variant Configuration -> Runtime Version -> Create

After you have those set-up, you load the Adapter object SCE. And again you can take a look at how many blocks were downloaded. If it is > than 0, that means that you are in the game.

After that it gets more tricky. Let me know when you do that part first, before you move on to the next step.

This is a very good wiki page, although it is not completely descriptive:

Yordan

Hi Adherent,

Do you have Java AS running besides the ABAP AS? If your basis team have not installed the Java AS, you wouldn't be able to create variant configurations in CRM.

Hi Yordan,

Thanks for the reply. We have Java as and ABAP as both in our server.

My requirement is I don't have knowledge On VC and how to replicate it to CRM and use. By some SD people I got over view of VC in ECC. Now VC is there In ECC now I have to replicated that to CRM how to do IT.

I am thinking once get the clear picture on this as a step by step I have to start working on this.

I have to replicate the VC product in to CRm and check how it working in oppt, quote and order.

Some one saying in ECC it is VC when it is in CRM it is IPC. Totally Zero knowledge and now confused also.

Adherent.

Hi Adherent,

When you say you want to download "variant configuration" to CRM, I assume you are actually talking about the product model. If that is so, I don't think it's as straightforward as downloading other types of data from ERP to CRM. The reason for that is while ERP uses the Variant Configurator, CRM uses the IPC (which is a Java based engine). Unlike VC, IPC requires creation of knowledgebases and due to differences in how VC and IPC work, a product model that is compatible with VC might involve low to high degree of changes before a knowledgebase can be generated for it.

So, the point is that before you think about how to download product models (or knowledgebases) from ERP to CRM, you need to think about converting your VC product models into knowledgebases.

HI Kumar,

By looking at your reply, now I feel comfort that I have a person to discuss on this part.

Kumar to be frank though it look frikey I don't have any knowledge on this part. Nither in VC nor In IPC. With the help of on SD guy i came to know how to configure VC in ECC.

Then I have created Knowledge base and version to this VC cu31 & 34. This is my knowledge till today.

Can you suggest:

1) whether my understanding is proper or not?

2) IPC setting means what i need to do? Can you suggest some supporting documents or step by step process to make successful in the CRM.

Request to help me in the confusion.

Regards,

Adherent.
