Issues in load balancing for PI from F5

We are having issues with load balancing on our SAP PI application. ECC system has 5 application servers and PI has 2, the observation is that when an ECC application server sends a request; it generally gets stuck to one application server on PI. We are currently using the source IP persistence and a tcp connection is open when a request is made for the first time from ECC to PI, F5 will send traffic to the same node on PI all the time until the connection is closed or PI is restarted. I want to check the best practice for SAP PI load balancing wrt F5.

We are not using any other load balancer in between.

    Hi,

    I want to know what kind of trafic is balanced by the load balancer(usually http) . if yes please put in place a web dispatcher in placeĀ  so that web dispatcher talks to the message server and distributes the traffic.

    Are you using any algo like round robin as i know you can do that with F5 .

    Hi Pankaj,

    Do you use RFC protocol for the data transfer from ECC to PI? If so,

    Could you help send  screen shots of SM59 RFC destination settings, "Technial setting" tab,

    also send RZ12 server group and SMLG logon group setting?

    Do you use tRFC or qRFC?

    What does "F5" mean?
