Subject field not being populated in NOTIF_CREATE (ZMIN)

Dear experts,

This is my first time configuring Service Desk using the SMIN transaction.

I copied it to ZMIN and everything looks good so far, but I'm having some difficulty related to the "Subject" field in NOTIF_CREATE. It is not being populated.

First things first: which catalog should I use? I1, as it used to be done for SLFN?

Presuming using I1 is correct, I created a new group (ZMSGS), since I'll use custom values for the field.

So, now I have MLDGDM1 and ZMSGS.

How to determine which code group is going to be used when opening an Incident?

Thanks in advance,

Felipe Assef

Hi Felipe

The old Transaction type SLFN is now replaced with new web based transaction type SMIN as mentioned above so you dont have to use Notif_create in solman rather

solman_workcenter or sm_crm (directly) to post an incident.

kindly check this guide for incident management setup

http://www.service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001167622011E

and this one for multi level categorization which is different than category field with earlier version

http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SAPITSM/Multilevel+Categorization

also some more links

hope this resolves ur doubt

Hi Felipe,

I believe the old SLFN Catalog/Code Group/Code/Profile configuration no longer applies to the new SMIN/ZMIN Incidents. There is new configuration for SMIN/ZMIN called Solution Category on the WEB UI Incident screen which contains values configured as Problem Categories (look under IT Service Management->General Settings->Define Problem Categories). You also have the 4 tier Category Schema which can be defined as part of ITSM SOLMAN_SETUP or from the WEB UI navigation bar Service Operation work area. We don't use NOTIF_CREATE but use SM_CRM to access the WEB UI screens to create Incidents. If I execute NOTIF_CREATE and select ZMIN, the only data field that can be entered that I see related to Subject/Category is Categorization, which is the Category Schema data.

Hope this ehlps more than confuses.

Kindest regards

Paul
