Knowledge transfer Questions

Hi All,

  At work one of my senior BO developer was leaving, So i am having knowledge transfer sessions with him. 

Can some one help me with, what kind of questions i need to ask.

Hi Praveen,

• As a first step list-out the activities need to be performed on daily, weekly, monthly... in your project. once you have the basic understanding, you can go technically.
• Maintain practical approach i.e., 1. write/ document everything that is required 2. Observe in the screen itself whatever you need to do next, not simply mouth word sharing.
• Collect all the project documents, shared paths, procedural approach etc. Also if you have business calls, get that approach too.
• Now asses the gap between your work and your knowledge, start improving on your technical part. Here you collect the material, web-links, contact points etc and then explanation part.
• Maintain good listening skills to get more information in less time.

Hi Praveen,

In your case 2 types of KTs you have to take.

1. Business logic followed by the person who is giving i.e. business related constraints, customer needs every time and how he is full filling those.

2. How all the reports are developed.

  - What are the critical reports

   - How they are critical and which logic is used to implement those.

   - Back end database knowledge and data model.

   -  Universe design and its object structure.

     The KT session is based on your environment such as:

- What version BOBJ has been deployed?

- What version of SAP / NON-SAP related back-end databases being used?

- What Suite of BI tools have been deployed?

- Walk-through some of the key Reports within each business unit that you will be supporting?

- Your basically going to shadow his typical day-to-day activities

It is 100% driven based your environment.
