MPS run Material sequencing

I have a scenario where I want to include in the MPS run a material A (mat type FERT) and two of its BOM components A1 and A2 (mat tpe HALB). Does the system know in which order to run the MPS (i.e A first and then A1, A2) or do I have to specify in the job that runs the MPS that it needs to run twice (i.e. first for material type FERT and then for material type HALB)?

Can you please explain how this works? Is the sequence detailed in the planning file? How do I display the sequence?

thanks

Michalis

Hi,

Material A,A1, A2 to be maintained with MRP type M* series to work with MPS. While creating BOM, system automatically assigns low level code for each material. FERT material always assign with low level code 0. Then code 1 will be assigned to that respective BOM component. This procedure will follow for each BOM.

While MRP run, system checks the low level code first and do the plan the material which has code 0. Then the sequence will follow for 1,2,..

Use tcode MD41 (single item multi level )to run MPS for FERT material. So that HALB materials also planned in the same MRP run. Or use tcode MD40 to run all materials.

You can find low level code in material master Additional Data. Click on icon Information on material.

Dharma ,

Thanks a lot for the response. I assumed this was how it worked for MRP but is it the same for MPS? We have a nightly job that runs MPS for all materials (I assume it is running MD40). I have maintained MRP Type "M1" for the HALB materials. You're saying the system will run MPS for the FERT material first (code 0) and then for the BOM component HALB (code 1). Is that correct for MPS as well as MRP?

thanks

Hi Michail,

MPS materials are differed from MRP only by MRP type. All other functionalities are same as MRP.
