Dear Gurus.

In my ECC PRD, oraarch directory getting full. It may be because of Bgjobs running for long time. I know if we free up the log files from oraarch directory sysetm will be again available.

Gurus please suggest what SAP recommended best practice need to be adapted in this scenario.

Please Help.

Hello,

Based on frequency of archive generation, you should increased frequency of archive log backup and you can increase size of oraarch location.

Thanks,

After we take archive log backup, can we move the archive log files to some other location say for safer side can we move the files to our local pc by using ftp.

You back up the offline redo logs to a some media or storage dedicated for backup and once the files are backed up they are deleted from the /oracle/SID/oraarch location

This function is possible using the BRTools and configured in the .sap profile.

You don't need to back them up to a local disk if you have a stable backup solution.

Yes, when you take archive log backup use option cds which will delete archive logs after backing up. It will automatically release space.

Check the filesystem or directory /oracle/SID/saparch for the logs

For every archiving run there will be a log generated at this location.

There will be archiving command in that log.

If there is no archiving scheduled then there wont be any log.

If the offline redologs are only backed up during the backup time then this is not a good practice.

You need to schedule archiving regularly to archive the logs from the /oracle/SID/oraarch location.
