Hi all,
I am a j2ee developer past 5 years and want to try NetWeaver, I googled for free installation and found a link with 1.2GB of free download at the below link
is this the right one to download? and they also say I need a SAP-J2EE engine, what is this? does the above link come with the engine ?
please provide links, tutorials etc to learn this NetWeaver stuff.
Your help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
Pradeep
Hello Pradeep,
depending on system main memmory you can choose betwen the Slim Edition, which is a J2EE Server only and the Java Edition which brings you the Enterprise Portal, Knowledge Management, Composite Application Framework and Interactive Forms based on Adobe also. The SAP-J2EE Engine is the SAP implementation of a J2EE Application server. Download, install, search and learn here in SDN :-).

Hello,
whith the Slim Edition you can start developing Netweaver Applications running on the NW04 J2EE Server. Also Web Dynpro can be used. But you can't connect with Web Dynpro to Backend SAP Sytems via RFC because the System Landscape Directory is not included into the Slim edition. I would suggest to get the Edition with Portal because here you can see also your applications integrated into the SAP Enterprise Portal.

Gregor
