PB 12.5.1 Build 4015 next EBF is where?

Lately I have been thinking about reviewing the latest, greatest, and highest PB EBFs.  Are these on the SAP or Sybase website?  Maybe I am just having a bad day.  I went to the Sybase link on the SAP page and am still processing the request minutes later from http://www.sybase.com/products/modelingdevelopment/powerbuilder after clicking the EBF tab.

Working for me.  I don't go to that particular link though.  I got to Support->Downloads->EBF/Maintenance and then click on PowerBuilder.

Remember that 12.5.1 and 12.5.2 use the same EBFs.  The lastest is 5583, from August 1.

I see the same thing as Bruce.

If you're not logged in you'll get prompted to once you click on the EBF/Maintenance link.

Hi Bruce;

   Yes, that alternate URL path works for me too.

Contrary to what Roland reports though - no recent PB 12.1 or 12.5.1 updates listed that I can see.

Please reread my post.  Particularly the part about:

I got the notice as well about the 12.1 EBF.  Sometimes they send the notice out a day or two before it actually appears.  Doesn't matter though, as the OP was asking about 12.5.1, and I identified the lastest EBF already.

FWIW: Nothing new listed in the PB 12.5.x realm since August 1, 2013 from what I can see either.

  Maybe we will see something new soon.

I just went back and looked at that image I posted and there is a 12.1 EBF on that list dated October 15, 2013.  That's yesterday.  That's "recent" to me.  Perhaps we're working with different definitions of the term.

nope .. still not there for me!

I bet its because I am not a rich paying support person!   LOL

It is the third from the top:

PowerBuilder Enterprise - EBF 21917: 12 SP01 PL12 (build 7298)

I don't have a support contract and I can see it.

I have 3 different SDN accounts just so I can debug stuff like this.  One of them is just an SDN account only, no support contract or any other higher privs.  That account can see that EBF.

Hi Roland;

  No build higher than 5583  - this is all I see ....

You have the one he's referring to, which is a 12.1 EBF, not 12.5.  It's the 3rd one down on your list.

You are correct, the latest for PB 12.5 is 5583 released August 1st. I was talking about PB 12, not PB 12.5. The third item on the list (build 7298) is for PB 12 and was released the day before yesterday. I know the OP was asking about PB 12.5, I mentioned the PB 12 EBF as evidence that the PB development staff is still working on it.

OMG ... That was not there yesterday. Wow - what a difference a day makes. Either that or the electrons keep slowing down as the reach the "absolute zero" cold here in Canada.  LOL

Thanks Roland!

Apparently the EBF tab link spins forever, but if you go the way Bruce does then you can get to the EBFs.  I would of thought by now that the Sybase web site and support would of been more integrated into the SAP web site.  I expected better or more functionality by now.  Quite a while ago I became a member of the SAP community because I thought the Sybase web site was going to be a redirect to SAP.  I made alot of money from when SAP bought Sybase out, but I never expected them to just buy such a great product as PB/company to be dismantled.  I have been migrating up to the latest EBF since PB 5.03 and have kept fairly current until the last year or so.  I must say I am somewhat scared to go to build 5583.

However, I have noticed some issues with PB Build 4015 and/or since going to a W7 from WXP PC.  LIke data windows when trying to add more than one retrieval argument gives a messagebox "Column 2 has an invalid nameand/or length.".  Script display (with font tahoma I think) has chopped characters and/or the cursor postion not displayed quite right.  A long time ago, my prior supervisor went to 12.5.2 as I recall, had an issue with RTF, and we had to go back to 12.5.1.

Now we have less staff here, PB seems to be hanging on by a thread, and I am alone in the middle of my management and SAP management.  Has anybody been using 5583 much and is aware of any reasons why I might not want to go?

Hi.

I'm using EBF 5583 for classic and .net since August. No issues until now... But this doesn't mean anyrhing... You should test it on your projects, and see what happens.

We found a problem with 5583, if you have total for each page in a DW report syntax "total for page" then this will reset your report total "total for all".

This was not there in the previous release, but we had a problem with tabpage images corrupting when the tab was disabled. Got that fixed only to get a new problem to stop the product release......

That's what I am afraid of.  Also, it appears only 108 people are part of this developer center/subspace.  I would think at least half/1,000 of the people who signed the petition would be members on here.  I thought the Sybase support groups went away and people were being forced to here.  Was the transition that bad that people just gave up trying to move or do I need another cup of tea.  I used to belong to or use about three PB support groups.  I use to like the groups organized by product; PowerBuild General, PB Webforms, SQL Anywhere.  Of course, if I post something and I get timely respones like I have this time then I start to become happy again.  Its a start but still feel in the dark looking for more light.  Thank all for the support, advise, and help

Hi David;

   An "age old problem" in an EBF versus a proper maintenance release.

Agree and I always get a kick out of all the EBF recommendations and disclaimers, but its not like the old days wondering if there is going to be another proper maintenance or major release.  I hoped for PB 15 by now, but even a dependable 12.5.3 would be nice that didn't require more money as a token for being such a patient, loyal customer.  Maybe SAP will give all PB current licensed users a free equal license for PB 15 and offer great support for migration from an older PB version to 15.  Then the PB business can start to grow again.

I have had issues with the computes 'for page' as well (Case 11745032).  I have not seen what you are reporting though.  My issue was about the For Page not being properly computed but the For All had always worked.  Have you determined what could be causing it?  Do you have SetRedraw's somewhere?

FWIW - my compute issues were introduced in a maintenance release.  I have always had good luck with EBF's.

There was an EBF for 12.1 released yesterday so there is coding going on in the PB engineering department. The latest for 12.5 is August 1st like Bruce mentioned.

One only, but a nice one:

"When a date or datetime column has a value of 12/31/9999....."

We avoid the year 10K bug, it definitely helps.

Hi D;

  Hmmmm - Yes, the same thing happens to me as well ... just keeps on waiting and waiting.

I am not surprised though as most of the other links on the PB product page point to nonexistent web pages. Seems like the whole PB infrastructure on the Sybase website is slowly being dismantled product wise.
