R/3 question

As a newbie to BW, i was wondering how u could view the data in R/3 before it is actually extracted. For example, u can see a flat file before you load it, so can youu see the data in R/3?

    You can check data before extraction via RSA3 transaction in R/3 (simulation)...

      The difference is, that a custom extractor needs a table, a view, a SAPquery or a function module to access and extract the data.

      As Roberto wrote, an extractor is nothing without a "link" to the data, which can be provided by one of the above listed objects.
