how to assign equipment in subcontracting process?

Hi experts,

My client has a requirement that he wants to send  few equipment outside for repair  or likewise want to use subcontracting process and to issue equipment for that subcontracting order.

*We are not using serialization .

Please let me know that is there is any standard provision in SAP (without serialization ), which can be used to send an equipment outside company premises or to vendor premises.

I am using ECC6 /EHP3

Regards,

Raj

Hi Raj ,

Without serialization please follow :

1. Create a PM order with a operation having ctrl key as external services ( like PM03) .

2. A service PR will be created from order .

3. While sending equipment outside the company area , set the user status of equipment to "Sent Outside" [ for this you have to create user status profile and assign to equipment category in SPRO . On sent outside status block equipment installation at FL] .

4. Once you receive equipment , you can change the equipment status to received .

5. You can track equipment's on the basis of above status in IH08 .

6. List received from IH08 can be a input to Iw38 , to find out the related info like PR , PO ,vendor .

Apart from above you can create a separate notification type for equipments to be sent outside , where you can mention detailed info . On the basis of these notif. , you can track

Hi SAP PM,

Thanks for your valuable inputs. I am aware of that one. But I still doubts that this is the best practice. Because we can't use MM gate pass and all processes (which involves to send any component outside the company premises) to trace the movement of equipment .

May be the way you have suggested is the best way without serialization. Please make me right that "In standard SAP system It is not possible to send equipment outside the company premises without serialization."

Still waiting for more replies.

Hi Raj ,

Yes serialization , helps to track these movements of equipment's . In my most of the projects , when serialization was not there , we have tracked this movement using MM gate pass development . As most of the clients ask for this gate pass functionality .

So if you are not using serialization , and when you don't want to do gate pass development also then  in my view above is the good way to track things .
