BO4 - service pack 7 and 8

Hi,

We are currently using bo4 sp6 and looking to upgrade soon as have some reports which have over 1 million rows and this fixed in sp7.

Have heard were some issues with java in sp7.

Anybody any thought/using sp7

We use web intelligence and Information Design Tool as our main tools.

Anyone know of exact date of sp8 release - heard due out soon. and what issues fixed in sp8 compared to sp7.

Philip,

These are minor versions SP6 and SP7,So there will not be much changes.  If you have any issues in SP6 fixed in SP7, Which are critical for you, then go head apply in lower environments and test them.

Instead of waiting for SP8, why don't you consider BO 4.1?

Had read before 4.1 was about a release behind 4.0 in terms of service apck updates and would assume biggre jump between 4.0 and 4.1 than 4.0 sp6 and 4.0 sp8

SP8 schedule to release in end of October.  Based on 4.1 forwardfit plan, SP7 is not included in SP1 of 4.1

We tried with both UMT and Promotion Manager,but nothing worked out

      When using Promotion Manager, are you also bring over the dependencies associated to the WebI report.   Did you try with BI 4.x w/ SP6 promotion manager?   Try using the Promotion Manager of both systems to see which works best within your environment.

We had issue with migrating reports from BO4.0 SP6 Environment to SP7 version,the report variables created in webi are missing in SP7 environment

     It depends on how you migrated the reports. 

- Did you use Promotion Manager ?

- Use WebI Rich-client ?

If you use Promotion Manager, it should NOT cause any problems.
