Hi All,

In SAP one program is generating huge number of spools and because of this all spools are stuck in uni spool level.

Kindly suggest how we can check which program is generating these spools in SAP level.

hi,

Try this,

go in sp12 and then Temse data storage ----> Memory usage.

You will see which user is having what size...

That will help you to identify

Thanks

Hi,

As you now know the user that is causing the issue. You can go in sp01 and then see the all the spool that are generate for that user . Then you will also get the no of pages that are being used by the spool.

So the Spool that has got largest no of pages is the largest and then you can find the job that created the spool using the spool no and the spool generation time.

Sort the list in sp01 related to the SPOOL pages.

Thanks

Hi Rishi,

The user is standard user we are using and many spools will generate for one day.So its some what difficult to find by user.As suggested by you in second point i am using the same method to find the job/program name but its taking more time to analyse .

i hope there is no particular solution to find it.But thanks for suggesting some ideas which may help further.

In SAP one program is generating huge number of spools and because of this all spools are stuck in uni spool level.

This makes me think that you already know the program which is creating the spool requests.

If there is a lot of spool requests created, it shouldn't be a reason why the print queue is getting stuck at the OS level.

The underlying spool subsystem should be able to handle the output requests sent to it.

If there is a delay in processing these request then you should troubleshoot from there.

Check the Tx SPOV to see the overview of the requests created and you can then identify possible candidates.

If the amount of spool requests created is not the expected amount then you may check what or/and from who are these requests created.

Also consider deleting the obsolete spool requests and doing a temse consistency check.

Hi Reagan,

This is the issue ,the printer which getting Spool requests is in no more use and one job/program is generating the spools to this particular printer and this spools are generating by standard user(we use jobadm) and this stuck at unispool.I am able to find the program but i am not sure if this is the only program/job generating spools. So i want to know  if there is any way to find it and  we are using standard job for deleting old spool requests.

Any have thanks for your helpful answers

Hi Reagan,

Go to transaction code SPAD. Double click on the printer(Outputdevice). Select Device Attributes tab and at the bottom there will be a option like "Lock Printer in SAP system" .

Hello Reddy

The reason why I asked is that I faced a similar issue with priniting on a locked printer.

What I did was locked the printer in two tables TSP03D and TSP03C by setting the field PADISABLED marked to X.

Then I reset the spool cache with the function module RSPO_DEVICE_FLUSH

Unfortunately Tx SPAD was not locking the printer in both the tables.

You can give it a shot if that helps.
