Hi Everyone,
Good Morning! I need some help with logging in with user-id SAP*. Just installed ECC6 IDES. logged in to client 800, created a client 801 with the intention of copying 800 across to 801. Tried to login to 801 with SAP* and pwd 09071992, pass etc. and was unsuccessful. read some posts on different fora and maintained the parameter value via RZ10, removed user sap* restarted the instance... still could not login. I was able to login to client 800 with 06071992. both SAP* and DDIC work in 800 but not in any new clients that are created. is there any other way or am I missing something big time here. Any help is much appreciated.
regards
Vijay
Hi Vijay,
Whenever you create a new client, always login using SAP* and pass in a newly created client. Once you have made local copy ie., from 800 to 801 with profile SAP_ALL, then you can use the same user accounts used to log in client 800.
If still not able to login using SAP* and pass, goto RZ10 - select your instance profile - check and edit the parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar = 0 which allows the sap* basically a kernel user to login. After creating the new user ID you can set the value of this parameter to 1 again, which disables the login of kernel SAP*.

Hi Kartik,
Thanks for your response. I can not login to 801 with SAP* and pass not only in new but in any clients. I have maintained the sapstar parameter on 800 and once I log out and go back in there, the parameter disappears. I even added this to instance still no avail. I have deleted the SAP* from USR02 via SE16n. is that a problem? however there is no SAP* user in client 800 anymore. I am a bit confused.

Okay Vijay,
Log in to client 800 using DDIC (hope it works for you), delete the client 801 using SCC5. Create a new client and try to login using SAP*, provided that you have to maintained the parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar = 0 and save it, make sure you are getting a popup after saving in RZ10 to restart the application server in order to take effect the parameter changes.
Restart the server and login in client 801 using SAP* and PASS. This SAP* user a kernel user which is available in the database. You will be able to login only when the above parameter is set using password PASS.
Also, please go through the SAP note Note 1761605 - IDES ERP 6.0 incl. EHP6 if your IDES version is on EHP6 as suggested by Rishi.
thanks

Hi ,
now if you are able to login in client 800 with user sap* and password pass .
then delete the new client 801 and recreate it once again from 800 client and try to login with sap* and password pass in new client.
your issue will be solved.

Hi,
Did you check this in note
Note 1761605 - IDES ERP 6.0 incl. EHP6
7. Usage/User
The data of the IDES model company can be found in client 800. The
clients 810,811,812 are very small and contain examples for ALE
scenarios.
In the clients 000/001 you can logon with DDIC and SAP* with the
password you have defined at the beginning of the installation as
'Master-Password', in the clients 8xx with the password 19920706 /
06071992 and in all clients with IDADMIN / ides
The system already contains more than 20 languages.(Please see attached document (IDES_ERP_606_languages.pdf) for details.) Set the system profile parameter zcsa/installed_languages accordingly to use them.
Thanks

hi,
then check the instance profile in client 800 whether the parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar is 0 if not change it and then @ os level delete the user SAP* from 800 client . and restart the application.
post above activity delete the new client 810 and then recreate it from client 800.
post this you will surely able to login with sap* with password pass in new client.

Hi Vijay,
SAP supports multiple languages, you can set the supplement language by using parameter zcsa/installed_languages in instance profile. Please go through this link for better understanding
