Currencies - Decimal Places

Hello Experts,

If we are using company code currency with 2 decimal places then is it required to maintain it in OY04 with the decimal places 2.

As per my understanding, OY04 should only be maintained which do not have two decimal places..?

OY04 is for exceptions only.

Hello Eli,

Many thanks for you response.

Exceptions will be considered which do not have two decimal places, right...?

Yes, whatever has a different behaviour, e.g. no decimals.

Hello Eli,

OY04 : In this transaction the decimal places for the currencies get defined, that do not have two decimals. Changes to this table are VERY dangerous in a productive running system. This is also mentioned if the transaction is called up. It is maintained in table TCURX.

In fact, decimal places configuration cannot be changed after transaction posted because it will lead to data inconsistency.

It is maintained in table TCURX.

Hope this is helpful.

Best Regards,

Omar.

It was not me who asked the question... 🙂 So, why is this answer?

The information you are giving is correct, but not linked to the question asked. Decimal place configuration CAN be changed, but, as you rightly said, it has a huge impact on the system.
