Building Detailed Navigation from Folders and Files

Hi,

Is there any way to build the detailed navigation from filesystem files and folders instead of creating iviews, pages for the content? I want to enable self-service publishing for the users and if I could somehow get this to work, I can ask the content creator to drop a file in a folder and that would show up as a link the detailed navigation.

Thanks

Raj Balakrishnan

    Raj,

you can use the Generic XML Creater for this.

all you need is to get the file system structure and using a java program create the structure as XML(Generic Creator) and upload it in portal.

yes you have to have the corresponding roles for the user.which can also be done through the generic creator.

check out this blog by Pankaj about Generic Creator.

    Hi Raj,

What kind of content would be self-published? Can you KM/collaboration for this?

You could also just create your own detailed navigation, which gets the file system files/folders and displays them in your DTN.
