deactivated update rule

Hello Experts in SAP BW,

I can understand that if cube is changed, update rule is inactive. What I cannot understand is why in production, update rule is seen active until I view this update rule (double-click). It becomes inactive. Any program to activate the rules?

May I know what could be the cause for the inactivation, pls. Not all my update rules are like this. I cannot understand why. Pls throw me a hint, thanks very much.

Regards

Adette

Hi Adette,

try to see at 'Version Comparison' tool in the update rulse definition (the button near the truck one)...so, you can understand when and who (with which CR) your UR were disactivated...

Anyway, I don't think it's useful to reactivate your UR directly in your production environment...it's always recomendable to start again by transferring your object from the dev and monitoring the CR log to verify if there is some missing object/activity (as the reactivation!)...

Hope it helps!

Bye,

Adette,

when you modify the cube (insert a field i.e.) or you modify an ods source the program of the update rules is not modified. when you view (double click) the update rules the program is generated and it becomes inactive.

for the activation see the program RSAU_UPDR_REACTIVATE_ALL

Hi Adette,

What you observe that the update rules look active until you click them is a bit misleading. The update rules are inactive even though they look green, and this has been caused by an indirect change to any associated objects. Like the comm structure may have been chnaged and transported, but the update rules were not reactivated and transported too. You can try to reactivate using program RSAU_UPDR_REACTIVATE_ALL, or may just transport the activated update rules again.

Hope this helps...
