Hi gurus,
Does anybody already have experience he can share with the new GIS-EAM integration functionality?
In the new role delivered in Enh Pack 6 (maintenance worker 2) there is a new WDA added "Display Map".
This takes you to a visual overview of the technical object.
My question is which actions are required to get this working? if you don't have a GIS system, can you visualize them on let's say Google maps? Or do you need a GIS map/system?
Similar information regarding the visualization in Visual Enterpise is also welcome...
rgds, bert
Hello Bert,
the UI functionality is based on the ESRI SIlverlight API.
As map background you can configure private or public map services consumable by the ESRI API (.g.e. dynamic or tiled web map services or OGC WMS compliant map services.)
Please also have a look at teh ESRI documentation for ESRI WebMapping APIs as well as services available via http://sampleserver1.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services
For the visualization of EAM objects on the map background a geocoordinate needs to be mainteined either on th ERP backend or a linked matching object (ID-Mapping) in an ESRI feature layer or the geoposition needs to be derivable from an address via geocoding.
you do not necessarily need a GIS server on your own.
In a minumal setup the address or geo-coordinates of technical objects is maintained in the ERP backend an map background layers would come from some public source.
Best Regards
Manfred
