CG02 - Error loading the Excel template from DMS

Hi Expert,

I'm very new in EHS system and need help to resolve below problem in our system.

  • Login in t-code CG02 (Dsiplay specification)
  • Entering identifier text "ABC" to serch ABC specification.
  • Selecting all specification and clicking on output variant. chose MY EXC to download data but getting error message - "Error loading the excel template from DMS."
  • Can you please help to resolve this error? Please find steps below regarding error steps.

Error loading the Excel template from DMS (document management system)

Message no. CM_SUB_INFOSYS100

Diagnosis

To display data with Microsoft Excel in the specification information system,
you require an Excel macro. This is not available.

System Response

Processing is canceled.

Procedure

Notify your system administrator.

Procedure for System Administration

Set up the connection to Microsoft Excel in Customizing.

    Assumption_ you have "copied" Standard "EXCEL" output variant to folder "OUTVAR" and renamed it

    If this assumption is correct you need to check customizing. Regarding output variant "EXCEL" some help is provided there. Explanaiotn is given there how to handle the "EXCEL" macro which you need (to be stored in e.g. DMS).

    If assumption is wrong: you need to ask your developer of output variant (which function module to use; which EXCEL macro needed; how to prepare it etc.)

      sorry: It is a very very long time ago since there was the need to upload the EXCEL macro. I have no idea about the error message.

      Normally you get more "hints" from SAP (what does error message "1" means (as part of the text ""Error when uploading file : 1"). One topic might be: there is a "customizing" missing. You need to make sure that you can store "Xls" files in DMS. Without that you can not store the "Xls" file in SAP.

      With out successful upload you can not use the output vaiant "EXCEL". You will always get the error message as mentioned by you. And "yes": the XLS file is uploaded in DMS (if you would succeed) and therefore eror message as mentioned by you should be solved.

    This is a long shot, but we ran into this as well and it was just an authorization issue. Did you run and SU53 or have the user run an SU53 to see if that might be it?
