Use of PoD with movement type 687

Hi Fellow members

With enhancement pack, SAP now allows that orders that are relevant for Proof of Delivery can be posted to movement type 687 when the delivery and PGI is posted and then post to 601 when the PoD is received.

The PoD flag is available at the Customer level and also in the sales document. The transaction should use movement type 687 ONLY if the transaction is posted with a Proof of Delivery flag as set. However, we find that the system always attempts to post using movement type 687. Hence, if you have a sales order posted without the PoD flag set, the resulting goods movement is posted using movement type 687-- but since the transaction was posted without the PoD flag, the resultant delivery is not listed in the VLPOD tranaction, thus resulting in the transaction wrongly using movement type 687.

Would appreciate views / comments from team members on an approach to ensure that this error is not encountered.

Appreciate your valuable feedback

Thanks and regards

Movement type derived from the schedule line category irrespective the POD flag.

If schedule line category determined based on POD flag copied from customer master, than you unchecked POD in sales order, you will need to change the schedule line item category manually, which will select item category in sales delivery with a correct assigned movement type for posting

Hi Sreenath

The movement type is 687 ; GMDel to Iss Val SiT. This is available for use with enhancement pack from SAP where it is now possible to post a PGI as stock in transit and then reverse that to COGS.

Thanks and regards

Hi Sreenath

Thank you for your response. However, my question is that if you can switch off PoD at the transaction level, how do you ensure that the system does not post to 687 and posts suing 601 for such transactions ? It would be incorrect if a transaction is marked as NOT relevant for POD and still post using movement type 687.

Let me know your thoughts

Hi Rohit,

Is the movement type 678 (TF to stck in trans.) or 687?

I don't find any movement type like 687 in sap.

Thanks
