Want to avoid dispatch process from Warehouse

Former Member

Hello

I want to implement SAP-WM without dispatch process. means on creation of outbound delivery I do not want to create any transfer order as I am not going to have finished goods in SAP-WM. But the finished goods will be in same warehouse managed storage location.

First I want to have GR and GI to production in SAP-WM and then down the line after 3-4 months I will have dispatch process in Warehouse.

One option is to make item category not relevant for picking. but I do not know exact impact of this on delivery process.

Second to change configuration at IM-WM interface by changing movement type setting for 601 movement type.

Can anyone suggest me how to proceed with this.

you can certainly try both settings to make your own experience, but I think you just create inconsistencies

a storage location is just as a whole WM but not partially.

In customizing you assign a warehouse to a plant/storage location combination.

And whenever you post a receipt or issue or do a transfer posting for a material to/from/in that location it is WM relevant, otherwise you WM becomes out of sync with your inventory management.

if you do not maintain WM views for your finished materials today and move this finished material to this storage location, then you just get an error message that the warehouse data does not exists and you cannot carry out the movement in IM either.

if your material has WM view, then a delivery from that location is automatically WM relevant and expect a confirmation from WM to complete picking.

Create a second location for your finished goods which is not WM relevant, or just use WM for all materials in that location right from the beginning.

Hi Jürgen,

If I check SAP help for 'picking relevant' checkbox in delivery item catergory, it is clearly mentioned that if you want to move process in warehouse management then check this box. It means that SAP has intentionally provided this check-box so that delivery process can be completed without TO.

Storage location is WM relevant, but I am not going to store finished goods in SAP-WM, means I am not going to create transfer order for FG from production, I guess by this WM will not be out of sync with IM.

Am I right?

you should read the F1 help again.it gives an example for which items picking is not needed, eg. service items if you list all items categories, then you can find others which are not picking relevant, like deliveries for third-party orders, consignment issues, returns ...

everything what you do not inventory managed in your own location.

if you move goods into this warehouse managed location, then you get stock in the interim storage type, even you may not move it to a bin, it is still in WM and the summation of stock in WM will equal the stock in the storage location.

if you move 1000 into the WM location, how do you think to get it out of this WM if you do not pick?

Just try it, move a FG into this location, e.g. with 101, with 311, with 202 ...you always create inventory.
