Research: Cubes vs. InfoObject

Hello Experts,

I found the following InfoObjects(oproject, oprofit_ctr, oversion) which I believe can serve a purpose in my project. I was initially looking for Cubes to study and make selections but could not find (i.e. Cube that includes 0project or Cube with oprofit_Ctr)in it.

When I find myself in such a situation, can I just install such Infoobjects invidually, and create my own dimensions for them?(I am dealing strictly with flat files).

If it is that easy, then why are we always taught to research on the Cubes and not the individual infoobjects.

Thanks in advance.

    a) Yes, you can install individual info-objects from the business content directly.

    b) Yes, you can create your own cube, add the info-objects that you need and create your own dimensions.

    c) By researching cubes from the business content you have an example of what info-objects usually belong together. Also, the update rules often include some small ABAP's or formula's that you may not immediately think of yourself.

I recommend to research cubes and install the cube(s) that look like what you need. Make a copy of this cube and adapt this copy to you needs by adding info-objects.

    Hallo Amanada

you can do what you have desribed but I would suggest some points:

    1. i would make a copy of content cube in ZZ_XXX and then add there these infoobjects.

    2. I would not put all three togheter in one dimension. Usually you can have different Version for the projects and assigned to different Profit Center. Better you analyze first how many reocrds you expect for the dimension.

    Regards

    Mike
