BW on HANA real life scenario

Hello everybody,I work on a Business Intelligent Project now and I want to ask if you have already implement BW on HANA in your Companies for your Clients and how this works? I ask this because in my Company a Client also want to have BW on HANA but I was curios if there is some real life experience from you? As an example how it run? of course it run faster, because is HANA, in memory Computing...but I don't know, maybe there is something more.. Thank you in advance.

Thank you, I will review these Documents, but I also want a proof from somebody who has BW on HANA. There are Clients with BW on HANA? or the concept is very new, and because of that also not so many Clients right now?

There are several 100s of customers already. One of the link is about customer use cases already in productive.

BW on HANA is not that new - about 2 years old!

Further Question ->

Because of System Requirements we can't use HANA optimized Cubes, but Standard Cubes. Does someone have experience with this constellation?

Is there an significant increase of performance to expect if we only change the database to HANA??

We deliver Partner-Business-Content to our Customers. Because we can’t expect every customer migrating to HANA, we deliver our Standard-Content. The customer, who wants to migrate to HANA does not want to modify our Content in view of future-patches. Because of no possibility for testing yet we do not know what would happen if the customer once converts our Content-Standard-Cubes to HANA-optimized Cubes and then needs to activate our content again in a future Patch. Maybe there is no conflict and the content can be activated without any extra effort. But if, it would be interesting for us to know how much increase of Performance is to expect with Standard-Cubes

Hi,

I recently worked for a customer who went for BW on HANA migration from a classical database where they decided not to go ahead with conversion of DSOs to HANA optimized DSO. In your case you can go ahead with either of the option. Today, in case a customer wishes to switch back to normal DSOs from a HANA optimized DSO, we have program that can help you get it converted without any major efforts.

Further, as far as performance is concerned, at least in our case customer was quite happy with the performance with normal DSOs as there wasn't a significant difference.

Further for a limited period, BW on HANA is free for few customers and you can check with SAP for same. A PoC or RDS can help you in showing any value to your customers.

As far as I know are HANA Optimized DSO Obsolete with the latest Fix Patch SAP Netweaver 7.3. For us only HANA Optimized Cubes are relevant.

Please note that in a BW on HANA system it is only possible to create new InfoCubes as 'HANA-optimized'. This is valid for activated content as well as transports.

You do not need to convert DSO any longer. See SAP notes 1849497 and 1849498.
