Blogger Awarding of Points

I am giving some serious thought to blogging on SDN. I'd like to think I have something to offer.

One of the things I would like to be able to do if I get a response to my blog that offers an alternative/enhancement on how to do something, as the author, I would like to be able to award points to that person that reponded.

What do you think of this idea?

Interesting idea, maybe the author would be willing to give points they earned on the weblog to those answers?

You want to test my generosity?

I'd be willing to share for a good contribution, but would prefer Gregor's suggestion of having points to allocate that don't effect your own.

Which raises a question, I know the contributor's corner says an exceptional weblog post could earn points on par with a technical article, but since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, could there be some mechanism to allow input from the SDN community as far as rating the post and assigning extra points to the blog post based on that?

    Hi SDNers,

Thought I posted to this thread already, but apparently not, or actually my connection broke down when I wanted to.

If someone writes something really good in a comment. The SDNer should be encouraged to write it in a Weblog post.

That way it's getting much better exposure, automatic points, better link to the person that has posted it.

The new Weblog post should link to the original Weblog.

On the original post one additional comment pointing to the new one should be posted and with that all the connections would be made. Everyone wins.

All the overhead of: Dear Weblogger, if you get comments you have x points to give to these comments, ... is not worth it.

    Best, Mark.
