Steps to clear Provisioning queue after upgrading from 7.2 to 8.0

Dear experts,

We have recently upgraded the idm from 7.2 to 8.0 using upgrade strategy two which is upgrading on the same 7.2 system itself. Before doing it, we have disabled all the dispatchers so that once the ugrade is done it doesn't trigger any tasks. upgrade has been completed and we would like to start regression testing. But we see some records in the provisioning queue. so how to clear the queue and also if we just truncate the mxp_provision table will there be any issue? if we are clearing the provisioning queue should we need to consider the cleaning audit ids in mxp_audit table.

    Hi DP,

    This is always a tricky question to answer, not technically, but from a best practice perspective.

    The best practice answer is to not do this in a production system except as directed by SAP. As the Provisioning table relates to many other database objects, outside changes to this table can result in what we like to call "very bad things"

    'While I know that the 7.0 --> 7.2 upgrade process calls for a clearing of the queue, I'm not sure about the 7.2 --> 8.0 process, so I would advise getting some insight from SAP before starting this process. In the upgrade, I'm familiar with, this process is done before, the upgrade, not after. In any event, here is the basic process:

    1. Stop all dispatchers
    2. Make sure you have a BACKUP of your database.
    3. From your database console, delete the contents of the Provisioning table (MXP_PROVISION)
    4. Start your dispatchers

    This should do it for you.
