Quantity contract MK: Released quantity must not exceed target quantity

(Dear moderator, please do not lock this question since answered discussions don't match my issue. In below discussions, advised solution is to set message M06078 to error, and this error message will block both MK and WK contract. However, in my issue, we only need to block MK contract. Hope you understand! In case my search result is not correct, could you please provide links to correct answers? Thank you very much! )

Dear friends,

We have a requirement: In quantity contract (MK), release order cannot be created if released quantity exceeds target quantity.

By setting message M06078 to error, system blocks both quantity contract and value contract WK, however, value contract must not be influenced because in value contract, we focus on target value only.

Is there any suggestion for this requirement? I've found a similar question for the same issue in forum, however, it was not answered. I could not find any helpful SAP note either.

Looking forward to your replies.

The Message M06078 doesnt distinguish between Quantity contracts or Value contracts , in either case it will never allow you to order more than the Contract quantity.

So, the Only option in the standard system is to always have a Much Higher quantity specified in case of Value contracts (The quantity should be realistic hopefully not 99999999, may be you could ask business to calculate the last years volume and add a 10% to it or something like that). This should not be a risk/control issue since you are anyways controlling your spend by the Value restriction.

Apart from this, there are always options to go for developments , by using the PO BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST

    • If users can maintain "1" qty , then they should also be able to conveniently maintain 99999999 😊 .

As a Business Rule, maintaining 1 is as ambigious as 9999999 . So to save the time and effort for an unnecessary development , try and convince them a bit more if possible.

Use development as the last option possible.

Try exploring the PO BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST or any other exit with your abaper, im sure ull find a way to suppress the error message for Value contracts or trigger the new error just for quantity contracts.
