I have upgraded my OS from server 2003 to server 2008r2. Unfortunately i have deleted my sap mmc instances and when i re configured them again i am getting the below error message.

WebService error: 20

Unknown error

TCP connect failed in tcp_connect()

DCOM Interface error: 8007042D

The service did not start due to a logon failure.

Can anyone please suggest the solution for this.

Thanking you inn advance

Hi,

Go to RUN -->services.msc

check if SAP<SID>_<instance number> service is running or not.

usually after changes, password got initialized and need to put again in properties of service.

Hi Krishna,

How you are putting username?

is user is in LDAP or on each instances?

As per your error it looks like your user is not available on that server where you are running this service.

You need to create user on server and then use that user.

Hi Krishna,

Please try to configure the SAP Service account as a member of the Administrator, Please also check the service logon account used to start the SAP Service under services.msc

To configured Local Users and Group, Right click My Computer > Manage > Local Users and Groups > Groups > Administrators - Configured the member.

Hi Abhi,

Thank you so much for your valuable replies. I have done as per what you said. I could start the users in the services. Out of 3 instances two are not running properly. One instance is hanging in yellow colour and other is not at all running. i am pasting the message of developer trace below for your perusal. It seems like it is the version compatibility issue. Please help me how to come out from this.

Hi Krishna,

I also encountered that issue and it seems to be true that there is incompatibility on OS Level, If you want to continue using that version of windows you have to upgrade your SP or else, Format your server with the compatible OS.

Note: In My case We are using SAP ECC 6.0 when I downgraded the version of Windows Server 2008 "R2" to Windows Server 2008 all services was running without any issues.

Eugene
