Connecting ERP to BOBJ

We have ECC 6.0 with EHP6 and we want to have Dashboard and some Operational reports in BOBJ. What is the best possible way to connect ERP to BOBJ without using a Data warehousing layer like BW? Since we don’t have much data we are not bothered about performance issues. By doing some R&D I found that we have following options using which we can connect an ERP system to BOBJ. Please suggest which the best possible option is.

Also let me know whether we can connect to the ERP tables directly from BOBJ and do the data modeling in IDT (Information Design Tool) by creating a Universe and do reporting on top of this universe.

  1. IDT Universe on top of ERP – Function Modules and Infoset
  2. Transient Provider – Infoset with Bex Query
  3. Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) – Standard Dashboards and Reports – I think this is done through the Transient provider - Pls confirm?
  4. Use Crystal Reports 2011/2013 to connect to ERP tables directly
  5. BOBJ Rapid data marts

hi,

Any of these will be better way for connecting to ERP from BOBJ Dashboards or Webi reports 1. Creating IDT universe over ERP or 2. Bex Query for ERP infosets

if you are developing crystal reports 2011/2013 then crystal direct connectivity to ERP Tables will better than any other ERP Connectivity options

Ambreen.
