Translating ALV layout names

Hello everybody out there,

as ALV is more and more used and we work in an multinational environment, I need a tool to translate ALV layout names (list + grid). Currently this can only be done by successively logging in with different languanges, which is of course a cumbersome procedure.

Has anybody solved this problem (we are still on 4.6C).

Best regards

Rabanus

    Hi Sri,

thanx for the quick reply, but SE16 allows me no maintenance of this table (without tricks). I am looking for a kind of "official" solution. SE63 may be possible, but this is also a cumbersome transaction.

    Best regards

      Hi Rabanus,

I can think of one solution, to create a maintenance view for this table and then maintain entries in SM30.

We are also on 4.6C here and strangely I see that "Table maintenance allowed" flag is checked for LTDXT when you look at this table in SE11/12. I am not sure why it is not allowing you to maintain entries in SE16 as I was able to maintain.

    Hi Rabanus,

Hope you have hard coded the Grid Title and the Field Headings in the Grid.

If you declare them as text symbols and assign to the headings, you can achive the aswer for your query.

    Hi,

Layout Names are stored in database table LTDXT (LTDX is variant definition table) and "Table maintenance is allowed" for this table LTDXT.

Therefore you can maintan (create new entries in different languages, change existing entries) in SE16.

    Hi Sri,

good idea ! I created an own View on Table LTDXT (Y_LTDXT) with its own dialog. Now I am able to maintain all the languanges from one screen via SM30.

    Have a nice weekend !
