Hi experts,
we are upgrading portals from 7.0 EHP1 SPS7 to 7.4.
During configuration phase , SUM shows that following will be components will be removed during upgrade:
CAF-KM 7.01 sp 7
CAF-UM 7.01 sp 7
SAP_EU 7.01 sp 7
SAP_ASR 600 sp 11
SAP-PSS 600 sp 11
VCKITGP 7.01 sp 7
VCKITXX 7.01 sp 7
I am using stack file generated by solman.
Also I could not find any of above components software for NW 7.4 in service marketplace.
Did anyone see same error during upgarde to 7.3 or 7.4 ?? Are these components not required in 7.4 ??
thanks,
Hi,
Many of the old components will be removed as they are not used on NW 7.3 and NW 7.4. These component will be replace by other components and you don't need them once you upgrade to NW 7.3 or Nw7.4.
Please check the below prequesit.
Note 1687484 - KMC configuration - Upgrade prerequisites
Note 1609441 - Add. info about the upgrade to SAP NetWeaver 7.3 EHP1
Note 1326576 - SAP NetWeaver Systems Containing SAP ERP Software Components
Note 1790828 - Central Note - Software Update Manager 1.0 SP08 [lmt_004]
Last but not the least don't forget to read this as you will find that you will have to undeploy some component to complete the upgrade .
Thanks

Hi,
First i want to ask you if you are logging with the user who has correct access?
What happens when you login with any end user.
Can you please check the the default trace if you see any error.
What happens when you try the below url.
If you can login with administrator what do you see in the error.
Thanks
Rishi Abrol
Hi Rishi,
I can log on to NWA fine.
When I try to login with j2ee_admin user to /irj/portal , all of tabs are missing. Seems like problem with custom theme.
default trace shows :

also after reading on forum, I can access page
there I can see all my content but not sure how to make tabs appear on login page.

you can set the parameter WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET at the Web Dynpro
application directly.

Hi Rishi,
I checked and found some more errors like below which indicate that problem is with theme upgrade during upgrade from 7.01 to 7.4. Is there a step for custom themes during upgrade ??
As this is test upgrade , I can rerun it with correct procedure for themes, but I have seen anything in upgrade guide or notes.
upgradeLogger: Unable to extract css value for parameter "parTbsAnglePad" in browser section "default" and design "paccoast" due to: Parameter "parTbsAnglePad2" in browser section "default" is not contained in parameterPool.
DesignService._upgradeDesigns -> exception caught while upgrading designs:
[EXCEPTION]

at com.sapportals.portal.design.impl.DataManager.upgrade(DataManager.java:444)
at...
Or can I do something now in upgraded system.
thanks,
Daljit
Hi Daljit
I think I know what you issue is.
You did not change the portal default desktop before you started the upgrade.
Yes , you are correct that the themes are the root cause of it.
We have the exact same situation.
SO what I did is use the par migation tool in the PCD to convert the par files to ear files and then use the NWDS to redeploy the files.
That should fix the logon page issue and the theme to an "extent"
The theme will still may or may not look right.
the error messahe you are getting above is corrected in note 1529406
Oh yeah by the way, to get to all of the above, you will have to reset the logon page customization using NWA first and then set it back to your custom themes once you have it resolved.
Remember no more visual admin...
Hope that helps
Abhi
Hi Daljit,
I thought that you already close the thread .
Ok.
try the below steps.
Try the below url in IE.
Login with administrator.
them follow the note .
1741061 - Blank screen after logging on to Enterprise Portal
Assign the default theme to the all users so that it start working with the default theme.
Then you need to get the custom theme corrected.
Now ask your developers to redevelop the these as the migration dint bring the theme correctly i think due to this patch..
Note 1896199 - Theme and/or portal upgrade not possible
Thanks

Hi Rishi,
just wanted to update.
Since /nwa was accessible, I stripped all roles from a user and it was able to login in using lightframework (irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fevery_user!2fgeneral!2fcom.sap.portal.lightframeworkpage).
As I added roles, I got portal runtime error on logging in. Then I kept hitting refresh in browser and tabs started appearing. Then I kept adding roles and followed same procedure of hitting refresh. I had to do same thing for all menus below each tab.
Now I can login as j2ee_admin to url /irj/portal.
Not sure what was causing this or if I am missing a step after upgrade .
Hi,
What i can think of that if you customise the theme and the mastead is still gettign called and during the upgrade these this are not migrated across properly.
I think developers should have a look at the development on the portal.
It can be that still some old customising is getting called .
Thanks

Hi,
What is the conclusion of the original post ?
During configuration phase , SUM shows that following will be components will be removed during upgrade:
CAF-KM 7.01 sp 7
CAF-UM 7.01 sp 7
SAP_EU 7.01 sp 7
SAP_ASR 600 sp 11
SAP-PSS 600 sp 11
VCKITGP 7.01 sp 7
VCKITXX 7.01 sp 7
Can these be marked for removal if SUM does it on its own ?

Have you finish the upgrade? What kind of erros did you find? Have you tested your application after the upgrade.
What I can tell you is that many components have been removed or changed to other name when you upgrade your portal from NW7.0 to NW7.1/7.2/7.3 and so on.
