Schedule process chain

Hi all,

I tried to schedule the process chain(uploading daily) and check if it works.

1) Do I always need to choose '<b>immediate</b>' to run it first and then setup the specific time for daily run again when I create or restart one process chain?

2)I scheduled and activate it ( it showed in the log)and I setup the specific time for <b>daily upload</b> (skip '<b>immediate</b>'), Where can I check if the process chain is running like what I setup?

3) I went to SM37, in the <b>'BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER'</b> it shows '<b>released</b>' in the STATUS, '52,290' in the DELAY SEC and <b>no data</b> in the 'start date/time'. Does it mean that my process chain activate and schedule failed?

4) How to fix my problem?

Thank you

    Hello John,

If you want to schedule your Process Chain to run every day, then the start conditions (in your Start Process), select the date/time you want to run, click the Periodic Job box. Then click the "Period Values" box at the bottom of the window and choose Daily, then Save. If you want, you can then click the "Restrictions" box and specify a Calendar to use in conjunction with your daily settings. Save the start condition, and then save your Start Process (Start Variant). After that, Activate and Schedule your Process Chain.

When you look at the BI_PROCESS_TIGGER job in SM37, you will find the same start condition you defined in the Start Process of your Process Chain.

Another alternative is to use an event. Change the start condition of your Start Process in the Process Chain to run "After Event". You can then trigger the event using a batch job which you can schedule at your leisure. We find event processing much more flexible because we can change our batch jobs in our Production system, but we cannot change our Process Chains (ie. can't change our Start Process).

    Hope this helps

    Hi John,

1] First u check whats the error message that it is giving. For this Right click on ur failed process in the PC and then select Display message. from there u can get the error message. If u want more detail error then click process monitor in that screen, which takes u to the monitor. So analyze the problem, why the load has failed.

If u need help do post here..

2] I think that u r using delta for ur ODS as well as delta for ur Cube bcoz of that u have two delta loads. there is nothing wrong in it. Just check which infopackages that u r using. make sure that the right infopackages were there as per requirement.

    Hi John,

1] It is not mandatory to go for the immediate run every time when u schedule. But if ur process chain is hourly, then if u want to check the how much time that ur PC is taking time to finish, then u can go for the immediate run and check whether it isfinishing within the time, if yes then schedule it to run for hourly, if not then take some more immediates, so that the data in the source system will be small enough to extract wuthin that stipulated time. then u can schedule to run as per Date/Time.

2]Once u scheduled ur PC then u can check it in the Released status in SM37 with the job name BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER.

Ur PC will gets triggered as per the scheduling conditions given, then u can see the job status as 'ACTIVE' in SM37.

once if it triggered then u can monitor ur PC in the log view of RSPC or in BWCCMS.

3]Check whether ur PC has triggered as per the schedule or not, if not then there might be problem with ur PC.

4] If it is in Active status in SM37, then get in touch with the JOb log. there u can find whats happening.

If its thoughing any error essages then do post here..

Check ur log view of PC. And let us know whats the status.

    Regards-

      Hi MM,

Thank you for the information. My PC still doesn't work right.

      1) I ran 'immediate' and it worked but it didn't work after I re-scheduled the PC from immediate to daily. It showed the IP(8XXX delta load created by me under InfoSource 8xxx) didn't work. Do u know why?

      2) my PC is loading data into ODS and then into CUBE.

Here is my PC (START->IP(for ODS)->activate ODS->IP(8xxx;I created under DATA MART). Do I use right IP(8xxx)? There are 4 IPs-init, full, delta(from BW), and delta(created by me) under IS 8xxx. Can U tell me why I need to 2 delta IPs? Which one I need in my PC? Is my PC right?

      Thanks
