How to enable Document Management System module?

Former Member

Hi there,

I am new to SAP and just managed to install NetWeaver + ABAP trial version from community download. When I run "cv04n" (search document) or "cv01n" (create document), the SAP GUI indicates the transaction does not exist. These T-code seems to be part of Document Management system.

Does anyone know how to install or enable this module? The SAP installer is called "NWABAPTRIAL70211_64.rar". Thanks.

Best Wishes,

Jason

Hello

I don't think a trial version will provide the DMS functionality.

DMS is part of the SAP PLM solution.

You can get the information here:

Hi Utkarsh,

Thank you for the reply. But ADS seems to be a specialized Document Management System. Is it the only supported DMS in SAP?

Hi,

Please read this note.

Note 1261014 - SAP Easy Document Management 6.0 SP12/SP12 P1 Release Note

Easy DM 7.1 SP 04 Patch 6 also released.

This is a front end application so has to be installed on every different system. This is around 20 mb and can be installed very easily- just double click on the exe and it gets installed.I recommend to install it manually. Installation of EDMS is very simple: it copies the files and then calls regsrv32 for EasyDmsExplorer.dll and EasyDmsExplorer.tlb. You can see a list of all steps from file setup.log if you installed it via setup.exe.

For your scenario you should try to create a script or batch for installation. I use another option: I created a MSI setup file, that also kills explorer before installation to support online updates and that can handle patches.

Hi Jason,

I'm not sure that you can add transactions in like this.  Document management is in a seperate system which would need to be installed too, and I doubt that this is part of the ABAP trial system.
