I understand the process of how HCM data is sent to IdM via the RPLDAP extract but could someone answer me following:
a) Does the staging area (MX_HCM_EMPLOYEE) hold all data records that have been transferred from the extract prior to them being loaded to Prod store (MX_PERSON)?
b) how are records updated that already exist in MX_PERSON when further changes have happened to the employees record. I have read that delta options can be enabled but how does it work if this option hasn't been configured?
Regards, Matt
Just noticed I may have not answerred your 2nd question directly: So without these delta options configured, all the selected personnel("Personnel Number") attributes will be exported again from HCM, and also all be transferred into IDM via VDS then. The above mentioned KBA and report doc should offer you more detail info.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for your reply. So if the delta options is not enable with the Write HCM to Master tasks, does that mean the data is always loaded to the staging area before being loaded to the master identity store and will it overwrite the attributes values even though the identity exists.
Regards, Matt
Hello Matt,
The delta function described in KBA note 1910756 includes: one option from HCM report RPLDAP_EXTRACT_IDM, and one option from VDS configuration. They actually provide different functions as described there. It is not set(not use) in task "Write HCM Employee To SAP Master".
Then, no matter the delta function is used or not, the HCM data will always be transferred to VDS and then to staging area, and then to master identity store, this is as designed from standard HCM-IDM integration framework.
When the task "Write HCM Employee To SAP Master" is triggerred(responsible for transfering attributes from staging area to master Idstore), it will change all the attributes(listed in its destination tab) of the relevant person entry in master Idstore.

Hello Matt,
a) Yes. Using a staging area instead of directly putting into master identity store will make it more flexible, since you can work with the data before it is transferred to master store. The advantage is also explained in the configuration guide:
b) Please you can refer to KBA note 1910756 about the delta processing options during IDM integration with HCM. Please note for option "delta download" from report RPLDAP_EXTRACT_IDM side, it will still export all the configured attributes for the relevant personnel. Please refer to the KBA note and this report's documentation(shift+F1) for details.
Hope these helpful for you.
