Hi Rahul,

There are no additional steps for "HCM" while performing SP upgrade except the CLC related checks which Remi suggested . We have been performing this activity regularly every year when CLC changes are released and the only thing we need to ensure is the correct target stack for CLC is generated.

Regards,

Sourabh

Ask your Basis resource to help you identify what patch you are on, and identify what patch HR-Payroll will require for the Year-End update.

You can also visit service.sap.com/swdc to look at support packages, stacks, Side Effect report, etc...

Hello

First you need to create a stack file using the Maintenance Optimizer in the Solution Manager.

This will take care of all the dependencies with the other components present on the system.

If patching activity includes updating many components in the system then I suggest you to use the latest SUM tool for this.

If this is small scale patching then you can go ahead with the Tx SPAM.

You need to take care of the SPDD and SPAU phases.

You need to contact the BASIS support for this activity.

Hello All,

Thanks for the replies, I am from Basis team only and know the whole process for support pack application.

My only concern is if there are any pre-requisites before we start patching since our erp system has HCM component, so are there any activities specific to HR which need to be done

Thanks

You should create a stack file using Solution Manager so that will take care of all the dependencies with other components involved.

You need to make sure there is sufficient space in the database.

If you use the SUM tool then the tool will guide you until you complete.

Every fall, there should be a Year-End Note four your Country Code, and it is the one that bring in the new legal requirements for Payroll Processing (Tax rates, new forms, etc.).  In order to be able to apply that Note, you need to be at a certain HRSP or CLC.

Check the schedule at service.sap.com/ocs-schedules, and look at the "R/3 HR Support Package Schedule" or the "HR-CEE Support Packages Schedule" hyperlink, depending on your requirement.

Hi Rahul,

You need not have to worry about that because BASIS team usually does the patching of SP notes. As per my knowledge for HR latest patch is SP63.and EHP6 is arriving soon.Once it is applied in development server.SPAU analysis is done from technical team.Functional consultants only tests the applicability of notes and side effects if any...

Hope this helps.
