Cannot delete the measurement method in CJ20N

Former Member

Hello experts,

In CJ20N I want to delete the Measurement Method which automatically appeared within the "Progress" tab, this is happening in the testing environment which is copied from the production environment, while in production system there is no Measurement Method in the WBS element.

When I tried to delete the Measurement Method which is not wanted, I can delete it but after saving the change it is still there.

Please let me know how to delete it.

Thanks

Have you maintained any configuration in Project System - Progress - Progress Analysis that is different between the 2 systems?

Look particularly at Define Measurememt Method as Default Value.

That configuration is where the Progress tab on the WBS element comes from.

Hi Ken,

I compared the configuration between the two systems and I am 100% sure that they are the same, for the "Define Measurement Method as Default Value" there is no entry in the systems.

Please check the screenshots attached.

Thanks

Hi Danny,

Do you mean that you want to hide the "Measurement Method" area in Progress tab.

Hi Kim,

I'm not sure if its like what you say, truth is that the "Progress Version" and related data are appearing under the "Measurement Method", I'm not sure where from this "Progress Version" comes.

Thanks

Hi Danny,

I am not sure but I guess your requirement would be met by appropriate customization using OPSG regarding deletion of activity/components.

Hi Ranu,

Thanks for your quick response.

I checked OPSG, it does not relate the my problem. The Measurement Method is on the WBS element level, in OPSG the setting is not for WBS. I checked the configuration in OPSG between testing and production system, they are exactly the same, but the issue only is in testing system.

Do you know which table stores the Measurement Method & Progress version for a WBS element? I checked PRPS but they are not there.

Hi Danny,

For Measurement Method you can see Table EVMT.

Hope this serves your purpose.

Hi Ranu,

Thanks for your kind help. I see the methods in table EVMT, but is that possible to see the mapping of Measurement Method+Progress version+WBS element?

Hi Danny,

You can see the Progress Version in the Table EVVS and for WBS Element you can see the Table VSPRPS_CN and PRPSS.

Hope this helps you.

Hello Ranu,

I can in EVVS the Progress Version which I want to delete, it is assigned to the CO Area where the projects are created. Does this mean that all projects created in the CO Area automatically get the Progress Version? I know this is configured in SPRO.

Thanks

Hello Dany,

Please look at the table EVOP. Here you will find Progress Version and Measurement Method straight away and to get the WBS element there is a field called OBJNR which you fetch it from PRPS table after entering POSID as project number/code.

Hi Danny,

Project versions - These are basically snapshots of a project at different stages of a project. Based on how the system is set up, a version could be created every time the system status of a project object is changed, for example. Or, you could manually create a project version in transaction CNS41 or the like. You could create a version with a key and then you could compare the different snapshots of a project against each other or against version 0 (operative project).

Progress Versions - These versions are used for carrying out Earned Value Analysis and other measurements against project progress based on POC, etc.  Progress version is controlling area specific and defines the control data for POC and earned values. It is mandatory to maintain progress version along with method of calculation. The system records progress analysis data in the progress version. That is why you can get the result only if you maintain it in the progress tab of WBS.

Hope it is clear now.

Hi Ranu,

Thanks for your explanation, but I didn't maintain information in the "Progress" tab, the Progress Version get automatically assigned in the Progress tab. this is not correct and I want to delete it.

Things are getting worse as I see all my projects in this Controlling Area are having this Progress Version.

Not sure why this is happening.

Hi Danny,

when you execute report CN41, just go to "Change DB profile ( CTRL + F3) " option and click on Version data. Then you can enter Project definition and execute the report. You will be able to see report with Project versions showing current data. After this you can go to option Extras/Environment-> Delete Project versions.

Please try this and I hope your issue will be solved.

Hi Ranu,

This is for deleting Project Version, what I am looking to is to delete Progress Version.

so I'm afraid this does not make any sense.
