(S)low performance of BPC in Excel Add-in

Dear BPC experts,

we are facing very slow performance of BPC in Excel Add-in. Our instalation is BPC 10.0, SP 12 Patch 8 .NET 3.5

Slow performance in our case is refreshing of the report in 5 - 10 minutes to get the data. We have tried the light optimilization and also the full one, but in full is nothing to optimalize. We are also using calculation objects in the database to prevent direct calculation in the report.

If we open the report the refresh takes the time mention above, but the other refreshing after the selecting different members from dimensions is not so bad and it usually faster. But if open another report it takes again such a long time.

Please can you advise of do you have similar problems?

Thank you,

TKu

      Hi Tomas,

Explore the possibility of reducing the number of member formulas. If most of these formulas are for reporting requirement, just derive them in the report itself using normal EPM ans excel functions.

In case you do not want the calculation to be in report, then try to store those value in the cube using script/input form/ BADI.

      Regards,

      Kalyan.

    Hi Tomas,

By "We are also using calculation objects in the database to prevent direct calculation in the report" do you mean members with dimension formulas? In general the members with formulas dramatically affect the report performance...

    • Hi Tomas,

I hope that you are using formulas only for some kind of KPI's - to deliver values that are not summable!

Don't use formulas like A=B+C, this can be achieved by hierarchy (even additional).

Try to limit number of members with formulas on the report...

If not possible then invest in the fast hardware...
