Resource Type

Hi All,

1. As per SAP help in field "variable continuous consumption" in  PPM -- only multiresource have a Time-continuous capacity.

2. We use PPDS Bucket capacity usually in Block planning and CTP.  (SAP help in resource master in PPDS bucket capacity Tab).

So,is the below interpretation correct from above two statements ?

Interpretation 1 . If we have a case of implementation where we have to use both SNP and PPDS and in PPDS --  Block Planning and CTP are NOT used -- but rest of the applications like -- normal PP Heuristics, PPDS optimiser , DS heuristics etc. are used then it will mean that we need time-continuous capacity.

For Time-continuous capacity we will need -- multiresource (Point 1 above) -- and as we want to use both SNP and PPDS -- so the only option is multimixed resource. Is this conclusion correct ?

Interpretation 2. If conclusion in Interpreation 1 is correct then it will imply that even if we have a single activity resource on shop-floor then also we have to create it as multimixed in SAP bcoz we need -- SNP and PPDS both  and in PPDS we need applications which need Time-Continuous capacity.

Please help.

Hi,

Time-Continuous Capacity  capacity is valid for an unlimited period.

We can define data for the time-continuous capacity for the following resource types

·  Single-Activity and Multimixed Resources

·  Multi-Activity and Multimixed Resources

·  Line Resources

·  Vehicle Resources

·  Calendar Resources

Since normally  there are  the same production resource to be used in PPDS and SNP production planning, we can define either Single-mixed or Multi-mixed resource types.
