Dear all,
We dont have Precaliculated server installed for one of our client.
Its a new setup. Please help me on how to Broadcast query output in Excel format (XML for MS Office) without using precalculation server.
In RSRT i'm able to see only 3 formats of outputs.HTML, MHTML, Oline Links to current data. But i am not able to see XML(MS Excel) or PDF formats.
Please kindly suggest how to achieve this. (with out precalculation server).
Regards,
DurgaPrasad.
Hi Durga Prasad,
To make use of BEx broadcaster, Pre-Calculation server is mandatory.
Check below link for more information,

Other options are too much work for you,
1. Using ABAP submitting a query in background execution, but not sure if it works in BI 7.X because there is no option to suppress pop up of the query. I mean, there is a standard FM to execute query but to execute in background you need to suppress pop up, looks like it is not possible in BI 7.X (never tried).
2. Create a script to lauch BEx from local machine and login to system using dummy user. Then select a required query and execute with input values. Save it in local machine. Also you can try email that using outlook (using script). --> This will be completely based on local machine.
For me, it looks these two solutions are not required (just mentioned these to give you idea) and recommend to use BEx Broadcaster .
You can talk to Client to get approval to make use of BEx Broadcaster (install Pre-Cal server), nobody disagree if you tell the benefits.
Thanks,
Umashankar

Hi Durga,
There is a freeware opensource AUTO-IT tool http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/
Download and configure it, it works on local machine and you can configure this tool to identify the BEx analyzer, run the report, save it in a local machine.
But this tool doesn't understand BEx buttons, drilldown and other functions. So you may have write some Excel Macros to do operations on reports.
Hope it helps!
Thanks,
Umashankar
You cannot broadcast the workbook into excel format without pre-calculation server. It is mandatory.
What is the problem in configuring pre-calculation server?

Hi,
Check this link.
Might give you an idea.

It's not required to take license for Pre-cal server.
You just need to have a separate server.

Dear Suman,
Documents are very helpful.
Problem here is cost is finalized for the new project with client. We are installing BI on I-series but nothing is communicated during the time of finalizing the project on per-caliculated server with them.
If we again ask them to take new server for installing per-caliculated server on separate server it could create some problem.
So if we can install on i-series i may not be in trouble.but in case if separate server is required
How can i convince them ?

DurgaPrasad
I understand your management concerns. We don't need a great configuration on Pre-cal server. We just need a dedicated server which can calculates all our workbooks before broadcasting.
You are right. The cost is very much involved. But you can't install BI and Pre-cal server on the same server. We need a dedicated one. You have to make them understand the hardware requirements.
Hi Durga,
