error in process chains

Hi All,

I am trying to trigger a process chain with a simple data load event using an infopackage and a start variant. I am getting the following error:

Invalid data source: PC_FILE (valid values: A, C)

Can anyone explain wht is the reason for this error?

Hi Deep,

It seems that your Infopackage is to load data from a flat file...have you tried to run this InfoPackage on its own, outside the process chain?

I did execute the InfoPackage seperately outside the process chain and it works well. Could you explain wht is causing the problem in the process chain then?

If your Infopackage is loading data from a flat file on your workstation (or connected drive), then you cannot execute the Infopackage in a Process Chain. You need to put your flat file on the Application Server and change your Infopackage to load from there instead of the workstation. The reason is that the Infopackage in a Process Chain is executing from a background job and does not have direct access to your local drive(s). It does have access to the Application Server (viewable from tx AL11).

Hi All,

Thank you for your inputs on that....I changed the InfoPackage settings to App. Server and also background scheduling.

Now I get another error in the Load Data process of the process chain. the errors are as follows:

1.Error when opening the data file /usr/sap/interfaces/bw/sv5/GO/Plan/Current Pass/T (origin A) @35@

Diagnosis: File /usr/sap/interfaces/bw/sv5/GO/Plan/Current Pass/T (origin A) could not be opened.

2. @5C@ Errors in source system @35@

3. @5C@ Error 1 when loading external data @35@

The file name is actually TEST12.txt, but I am not sure whether the process chain is actually picking up the entire path or not.

ALso I checked the batch monitor and found that the job is actually running under the user Z_R3USER and this user has the read and write privelges to application server

Can anyone explain wht the problem could be?

In your infopackage, did you try the "Preview" button on the <b>External data</b> tab? This will allow you to "test" your load without activating/executing the infopackage.

Also make sure the file is NOT OPEN when you try to load it with the InfoPackage.

Hi George,

I checked the preview button...but I get "File not found" error. I checked for the file in AL11 transaction and it is very much there.

What could be the problem?

Try using the drop down in the area of the Infopackage where you enter the file name. You should be able to "drill" down to the file name.

I tried doing the drill down too, but the same error "File Not found" persists. The complete path was copied into the "Name of the File" text box even before drill down.

When you drill down, can you see the file you want? If you do, then if you double click on the file name, a window will appear asking whether you want to <b>Disp. cont.</b> (display the file contents) or <b>Copy name</b>. If you select <b>Copy name</b>, then the complete path will be copied into the file name area in the Infopackage. You may notice that the complete path may not include all the subdirectory names you have put in your name before.

Otherwise, maybe you have an authority issue to the file on the Application Server.

Can u please check whether ur file has uploaded from the Application server or not..?

If not try to change it to Application server and then execute ur chain..

Hope it should work..

Could u please give me the error msg in detail..
