Keep primary key after merging two registers

Hello:

As I posted before, I've merged two records using MDM client. However, this merge makes me lose one of the two primary keys, how can I keep that relationship so I keep their original keys for syndication? I righ click on the merged register and I have nothing under keymappings settings.

Thanks for your help

Alejandro

Alejandro,

Although you merged the records, I think MDM will keep track of these keys and when you syndicate this merged record, it will send multiple records out.

Can you syndicating this record and see if it sends out multiple records?

hello:

No it doesn't. I don't know why I can't get anything as keymappings, when I merge two records... maybe an special setup on the table?

Thanks

Hi Alejandro,

Can you see two different key mapping values of two records before merging them together? If not, please make sure that the table is key mapping enabled. Then, when you map the fields, make sure that you map the unique field of source to remote key of destination on Import Manager. The unique field will become a value of key mapping.

Hi Alejandro,

Are you doing the merge records in data manager or import manager? I assumed data manager. In data manager, when you merge 2 main table records to make one, it makes you create the fields for the merged record using copy and paste on right click, correct?

And the key mapping for the records is usually is a combination of fields on the record, right? So, once you created the merged record, click on the record created, edit key mapping. The key mapping shows both entries of the records I merged, one checked and other unchecked. I have an option to keep the one I think is right, and delete the other.

This is atleast what happened in my case, I did not actually use the feature in my project. I was just playing around with it several weeks ago...

Good luck

hello:

Thanks everyone, you are right... what I have to do is to clone the primary key at importing and map the clone to the "Export Key", then in Client after merging, the primary key is kept as "Key mappings".

Afterwards, in syndicator the key is maintained for each agency, preventing that I syndicate data where it doesn't belong

Thanks everyone!!!
