Hi Gurus,
I connected a Bex BW query to BO Webi 4.0 through BICS connection.
I notice that when I try to run the Webi's "query panel" it don't appears.
If I go to check the transaction "SM50" in SAP BW I found a process launched with my user as can you see below.
I notice that the Webi's "query panel" appears only if i kill this porcess.
It happens to someone ?
Thx
Best regards.
Rino
Hi Gennaro,
I had the exactly same issue, and took me a long time to find out what was causing the problem.
I started removing each infoobject from the BW query and going back to the WEBI to see if the performance was improving with less objects.
I found out that I had ONE infoobject that was causing the long waiting time on webi, and it was the WBS.
With more debug on what SAP was trying to read during the execution, I found out that most of the time the program was reading the Hierarchy tables from WBS.
I had multiple alternative hierarchies on that infoobject and some were obsolete.
I deleted the obsolete hierarchies and the problem was solved.
My wait time in webi to get the query panel was 30 min+ and after I deleted the hierarchies went to 2 min. (still, it is not 2 seconds, but I can wait 2 minutes...)
I hope it helps.

Further confirmation to what Rodrigo described, the CL_RRHI process in SM50 is reading the hierarchies. WEBI query panel brings in all the hierarchies of all the InfoObjects in your query, so that they can be used in WEBI report if needed. If you have a lot of them it will take a long time to render. Cleaning up the hierarchies or changing some setting for "Not Assigned" nodes in hierarchies can help.
I know it is not a solution .....
Hi Rodrigo.,
I tried to delimitate the customer hierarchy in the BEx as you said.
Finally the WEBI "query panel" it works !. It shows in 1,5 min.
This means you have right, the problem is the hierarchy.
I have a problem still. I use a authorization variable based on the characteristic 0customer, then i can't delimitate and use the Auth Variable at the same time.
I read in some thread that probably the installation od BO 4 SP6 will solve the issue.
Today my Basis team, will install the new component and I will know something more.
Best regards.

I notice that the OSS note 1752639 talks about an error similar to my issue.
But I don't understand which are the steps for the solution of issue.

Hi Gennaro
Even I ran into this problem, but I finally managed to resolve
Solution is ,you just need to assign default values for these variables because if
you don't assign default value for them, the BW backend will fail during the initial state of the query panel
Please refer Note 1611185 - Usage of BEx Queries via BICS in Web Intelligence 4.x

Hello Gennaro,
- can you run the BEx query successfully in transaction RSRT ?
- do you have another tool available - for example Crystal Reports, Analysis, BEx Analyzer - just to see if there is a general issue or a pure WebI issue.
- do you see the WebI process "working" when creating a new report ?

Hello Gennaro,
does it not appear at all or only after a very long time ?
When Web Intelligence is creating a new report it is reading all the meta-data for all the elements that are in the BEx query (rows, columns, free characteristics, key figures).
in addition it will read all the available attributes and hierarchies for all of those elements.
Ingo
Hi Gennaro ,
Try placing all the obejcts in BEx query in rows , not in free characteristics.

Hi Guys,
probably I have not expressed in right way, I'm sorry.
The Issue happen when I try to create a new document in WEBI.
Pratically I:
now should be appears the query panel, instead the Webi application remains in waiting, at same time a BW process appears in the transaction SM50.
The only way to make appears the query panel in WEBI is to kill this process.
Someone have an Idea?
Thx

Hii Gennaro ,
When you select the query for reporting kindly wait for sometime and as it takes to load query and still if it takes time then kindly check bex query performance in BW RSRT Tcode or you can also use RSRV
Tcode in BW to check if there are no errors in Bex Query objects .

Hi Gennaro
You can try as Jeetan said or with Webi Richclient.

Hii Gennaro ,
If you try to open the webi report Double click and then going to design mode then you won't be able to access Query Panel hence kindly right click on the webi report and then click " Modify " option and only then you will be able to open and run query panel .
If still problem persists then kindly upgrade to patch SP05 or higher .

Hi,
There must be huge volume of data that you are trying to render.
Try restrict data by mandatory prompts . Also check the records or no.of cells being hit.
Are there any merged dimensions and the aggrefation on query or report level?.
Thanks,
Jothi
