Plant for Service Material

Dear Gurus,

Just share the experience, that is it necessary to create the service material using Plant, what's the purpose of this, if my company offering services from so many location, might be a customer location where we offer services, so every time user create that customer site as a plant. ??

Second when I create the material without plant, system give the incompleteness message at the sales document level, although there is no delivery, should i customize the incompleteness according to the requirement and remove plant field from it.

please suggest.

But the above is incorrect.

If a service is provided to a customer, that does not mean you have to create the customer as a plant.

E.g. TV is delivered from a plant, to a SH (delivering address), the SH is not the plant.

Similarly customer is not the plant, it is the delivering address.

From another angle - during creation of MMR (material master record) you need a plant.

Is it not mandatory?

If that is the case then no need to create the material with plant.

Yes you can Configure according to the requirement but you have to remove the incompleteness field Plant from the Sales Item Group --> Standard Item ---> Fields ----> VBAP-WERKS and also remove the assignment "30" from the scheduled line category assignements for Scheduled line type "CD - Without Delivery".

If the above configurations are done then your scenario will work fine.
