Dear Gurus,
I just have an query related to transport import between heterogeneous system and need your help on this
We have two SAP systems and both are different transport domains. One system ‘SBX’ is running on Linux with Oracle and another ‘SBY’ on Windows with SQL.
1. Can we do client export from SBX and import to SBY. I don’t think this is possible since both systems are different platforms and for client export/import, the prerequisite is to have both SAP platforms should have same OS and DB (patch level should be level). Please let me know if my understanding is correct
2. We have few transports in SBX. Can we take co-files and datafiles of those transports and put them in SBY transport queue and import the transports to SBY. Is this possible ?
Regards,
Shankar
Dear Hari,
You can perform a client transport between two systems under
different databases and operating systems. The major recommendation in
this senario is to have the latest kernel, tp and R3trans version on
both systems.
For this issue, could you please refer to following notes:
552711 FAQ: Client copy
24853 CC-INFO: Client copy, functionality
According to note 552711 FAQ: Client copy and Point 5, Client copy
between different OS is possible:
5. Can I create client copies in a heterogeneous system landscape?
Remote copies or client transports can also be carried out between
different database and operating systems.
Also, please take into account that, as mentioned in Point 4 from the
same note, a client copy must be performed between systems on the
same release and SP level, otherwise errors will arise during the
copy due to the difference in structures.
For a successfull client copy to take place, you should first ensure
that there are no differences in table structures between the 2 systems.
The dictionary compatibility between these 2 systems have to be tested
which reveals which tables are missing in the target system. Once these
differences are eliminated, you can proceed with the system copy.
additional notes: 557132, 116787 and 552711.
The same principles apply to transport files
regards,
Paul
