Hello Friends,
I am new to SAP XI and am planning to get into SAP XI.
I heard that we require sound ABAP programming knowledge to work with SAP XI. IS it true?
I am not that much skilled in ABAP. So i would like to know how much do i require ABAP skills inorder to get into SAP XI. OR Do i require any other Prgramming language skills.
Which i mandatory ABAP or JAVA?
Please do let me know as I am in a confusion , since i am planning to get into SAP XI.
Thanks a lot for your ideas/suggestions.
Hi
It depends on the requirement of the project you will be assigned to. In some projects the clients say i need a person with a mix of ABAP and XI, or sometimes they have separate persons working on ABAP and XI.
Tho it is good to have a knowledge of ABAP, i do not think you need to have expert level knowledge. But, if you have expert level knowledge in both XI and ABAP, then you will be hot property in the market
Also you need some Java skills, XSLT skills as well.
And hey most important keep regularly following SDN, this is a place where you have all the best guys in XI available under one roof.
cheers
Sameer

Hi,
ABAP Programming skill you only need when you use ABAP Proxys or ABAP Mappings.
Its the same with Java Programming.
Its important to have a little Java Installation and Configuration Skill (J2EE).
Its nice to have the Technical Java/ABAP Skills when you working with XI.
Regards,
Robin
