S/4 HANA to BW 7.5 on HANA.

Hello hi,

I am a little bit confused what is the best way to load data from S/4 HANA to BW 7.5 on HANA.

I have been reading some blogs and articles and it seems I can use HANA optimized BI content (such as /IMO/FIGL_IS04, /IMO/FIGL_IS14) or I can connect directly to some HANA view in S/4 HANA with Open ODS view. But I'm not quite sure which one I should use and what are the advantage of using one over another.

If I use HANA optimized BI content, does it mean I have to replicate the data from S4 HANA to BW instead of accessing S/4 HANA directly?

And for data source such as /IMO/FIGL_IS04, /IMO/FIGL_IS14, as far as i know, the /IMO/FIGL_IS04 is for GL line items while /IMO/FIGL_IS14 is for New GL Leading Ledger. But for S/4 HANA Simple Finance, does it mean I have to use /IMO/FIGL_IS14?

Apart from HANA optimized BI content and HANA view, are there any way to get data from S/4 HANA to BW on HANA?

The best way to load data from S/4 to BW on HANA is the ODP based extraction, as this method is the only way to extract your S/4 data once your BW System is transferred to BW/4, see the Positioning overview.

Going forward with the In-Memory optimized (IMO) is always a good choice - BW/4 - Technical Presentation
