Hi,
I am trying to configure moving average price for each materials at my system. I tried many many customizing steps to update the materials price after goods movements made.
I don't want to explain all steps that i have made for customizing because i was lost and confused
Please guide me with comprehensible and clear steps from the beginning.
Note: there is an attachment related with creation material. This image will be helpful to understand where am i wrong.
Thanks and best regards.

Thanks for your help.
Issue was resolved.
The solution is creating an area called "Externally Entered Posting Amount in Local Currency" at migo (501 movement type) screen. By this way i can enter the new total price of the materials to the area. after the movement the average price is recalculated automatically.
Best regards and thanks again.

Thanks for replies;
My test is like this:
1. create new material with price control V and the price 10 $
2. take 10 Pieces of this material with 501 movement type (goods receipt)
3. change the price and new price is 15 $ (MR21)
4. take 10 Pieces of this material with 501 movement type to the same storage (goods receipt). Now i have 20 pieces of this material
5. sent 1 Piece with 201 movement type (goods issue)
6. i want to see average material price should be 12,5 $ but average material price is 15 $ when i looked at MM03
I think now i explain the issue clearly.

I dont see any reason why in your process the moving average price should change at all.
Any of these involved movements is of nature a goods issue, even the 501, you can see this in OMJJ at the account modification folder, it is an WA string, not a WE .
Goods issues will be valuated by moving average price,
how should a MAP change if the issue is done with the current MAP?
A price changes when you post with an external value, which is coming from an purchase order (or invoice) when you do a goods receipt, or you can enter an external value in the movement manually, if you allowed that in customizing. Then even a goods issue could change the MAP if you enter a valuation different from the MAP for a movement.
MR21 just changes the MAP to a new price,
it is not so that you enter a new price and SAP does then a calculation (old price + new price) / 2.
you could add a value to your existing stock with MR22, then SAP will create a new MAP .
Hi,
Just cross check following to get clear about concept which cause your concern
You created new material with price control V and the price 10 $ and receipt 10 Pieces of material with 501 movement type (goods receipt)
Cross check accounting document with stock of material with material value
You changed the price of material with new price is 15 $ in t.code:MR21 .
Just check accounting document for material with t.code: MR51 and find stock of material with material value
Again you have taken 10 Pieces of material with 501 movement type to the same storage (goods receipt).
Now Cross check accounting document with stock of material with material value.
You send one Piece of material with 201 movement type (goods issue) and now Cross check accounting document with stock of material with value where system calculating perfectly with average material price is 15 $ @ t.code:MM03
NOTE:
When you change material price in t.code:MR21, the accounting triggers with G/L account of Gain/loss from revaluation (with UMB key) against your Inventory account

Hi Kesten!
There is no need any special customization to update MAP. If you have selected price control V and its value in material master and as long as your procuring for stock material it will update by default in the material master.
let us know what is your exact requirement.

Praveen.

you should explain what you actually think is wrong.
you've 7 in stock, and a value of 35, and moving average of 5 and a standard price of 4, so everything looks
fine.
what do you want to tell us with the yellow circled future price?

I manually entered the standart and avarage values from MR21 and MM02. I entered different prices for testing the calculation is working or not. You can ignore the values.
At the end the prices were not calculated automatically. I attached the image for information purpose of other fields.
Thanks.
