Dear Experts,
Is it advisable to represent multiple storage locations (physically, different locations) as storage types and assign all these storage types under one Warehouse in SAP? What are the challenges in this case?
regards,
Shashiidhar
Yes it is possible. You can use storage location control for this. You can create a storage location reference for each storage location and assign it to the storage location in storage location control settings. In storage type search, use this storage location reference to identify different storage types as required by your mapping between Sloc and St type.

Sashidhar,
Yes, you could do it. Some of the drawbacks I could think of are
1. Inventory visibility based on storage location
2. How would you handle putaway across multiple buildings.
You could also keep the different physical location as separate storage location under one warehouse. You might have to do transfer posting whenever you move a bin to bin transfer.
Thank you,
Binu
