Change to COPA Reporting

Hi All,

Whats the best way to change an existing COPA DataSource with new value fields, but without losing the delta? I do not want to do a user exit as I would have to extend the transfer/extractor structure for the new value fields and loose the delta inits. I am adding only new KFs to the COPA cube. It takes 3-4 days to reinitialise so want to avoid delta reinits.

Can I create a new DataSource and map to new InfoSource with the same characteristics but with the new value fields? I plan to reinitialise this new DataSource from the next period onwards. Has anyone does this before?

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.

I am aware than COPA DataSource can not be modified. I want to avoid re-creating as I would loose the delta inits. The same with user exits too, as I would have to modify the extract structure and replicate the DataSource.

One option is to create new DS from COPA and a new delta init, leaving the old one as it is.

Would this pose a problem?

Thanks.

Hi Sridhar,

Option of creating a new CO-PA data Source and Initializing for the next Periods, you would not face any Technical Issues but only problem you will have is that you will not have the Values for the new Key figures added in the cube for all the historical data.

To be on the Safer side use the ODS before loading the data into the CO-PA cube.

Hi,

I did a delta init without data transfer successfuly. I could see the delta queue in RSA7 but when I ran the delta update infopackage it failed with error -> Delta update only possible with status "Update successful".

The DS was shown only as Generated with time stamp information as 0.

I deleted the delta init and redid it with data transfer and it started working fine. The stauts of the DS was Update Sucessful with a time stamp.

Does'nt COPA extraction support init without data transfer.

Any idea why this is happening?

Hallo and welcome

Which plug-in are you using? Have you noticed that COPA datasource cannot be changed? you need to delete the exisitng one and create a new one if you follow the standard from transaction KEB0. the best then that you do it when everythign is locked on R/3 side in order to make an init without data and then again delta.

I hope this can help you.
